Housing Our Vulnerable Neighbors After Helene

Last fall’s horrific storm damage made our local affordable housing crisis far worse, especially for low-income families and other vulnerable neighbors.
Thrive Asheville recently brought landlords together to learn about how we are reducing barriers to housing
with our partners in the Buncombe Rental Assistance Collaborative (BRAC): City of Asheville Housing Authority, Homeward Bound, Helpmate, and HUD-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing. This work is supported by the Land of the Sky Association of Realtors.
By working directly with landlords and tenants over the past two years, BRAC has placed nearly 300 adults and children in safe and secure households.
